The Sum of Parts

"The whole is more than the sum of its parts."-Aristotle, Metaphysica

We, as humans, need to remember to sometimes take apart every little thing, breaking it down to its basic pieces, in order to better appreciate it. Chances are, if a item is not directly found on the periodic table, then some process was used in order to create said object. It is so interesting to think that every single thing that we own was created through some sort of process other than by God Himself. Take any object, even something as common as a cell phone and think about what had to happen in order to create this final product. Almost every college student in America owns a cell phone, yet not many of them (myself included) know exactly how one is compiled. Thinking about how every little thing in my room has some story behind it is quite mind-boggling, but also quite humbling. Think about how easy our lives are made just by the simple comforts that we are surrounded by. This computer I am typing on, for instance is so complex, yet it allows me to make a task such as entering text onto the internet which anyone could access simple and easy. In order to illustrate my theme for today of processes and appreciating the craftsmanship and complexity that goes into everyday products, I have decided to include the following video. This video was created from everyday objects that were made to look like things which they are not. This video took the art of cinematography to a new level and fits with my theme for today because it shows that many, many parts can go into a process, yet these parts still remain astounding and remarkable in a unique way.
